Something So Powerful

I want to thank CelticLucas for finding and sharing this video with me.

As I may have mentioned on Twitter and in Episode 5, my aunt recently underwent breast cancer surgery. It sounds like she came out fine, but I don't know as of yet whether she is going to have to undergo chemotherapy or not. I really hope not. I'm keeping hope though because my mother went through the same thing a few years ago, and only had to have radiation.

My father also had cancer in his back. Thank goodness he came through just fine, no thanks to a misdiagnosis of (non-lethal) staph infection. It hurt so much seeing this upbeat, quiet man laying in a hospital bed, in pain. I hope to never see either of my parents like that again...ever.

I think what really touches me is towards the end one of the commentators mentions her father. It reminded me that breast cancer isn't the only cancer out there. So many are fighting, winning...and loosing the battle with this aggressive beast. We can only hope that our children can find a cure.

I love and look up to, now, all three of these heroes. May they always be blessed.

The Vacation Begins!

Yes, I'm still around and about. I've been watching shows and movies. Most recently have been "Doctor Who" (the new one), "Heroes", and "Hercules" (yah yah yah, shut it. :P). I just finished watching "Across the Universe" which was a very visually stunning movie. But then, I used to really be into the '60's when I was younger, so I love all the colors and stuff.

Oh, and I was playing Fable II. Got the main questline buttoned up, and now a wee bit bored playing the "endgame". I'll get back to getting all the other in-game stuff done some day. hee hee

Haven't been playing much WoW, in fact, I am giving myself a bit of a break from a lot of the online, in-front-of-the-computer stuff for now (well have been but ya know). I'll probably slide my way back in soon. :)

I hope this message finds you well, and that you are doing okay. I got up thinking about you this morning, and felt the need to let you know.

Things had gotten to a point that I never intended to get, I value our friendship too much. I will never allow it to happen again.

You are a good person with a good heart, always remember that.

Things are going well enough for me, work has been...work. I have a new project that I'm hoping to get underway by the end of the month.

I think next week will be the start of a new full-time job search. I know, "Good luck in this economy." But hey, I need to do this for me, not for money or anything else. Oh yah, also my sanity. *grin*

New Project

Well I have a new project cooking. I'm just waiting on one part from one person, and on myself for inspiration for a format for this project!

Why do I invest so much into people up front? Maybe it's because I feel in such need of a connection. Sometimes I feel like some bum on the dirty sidwalk of life, holding out my arms in supplication. "Will you be my friend?" "Will you give back what I give to you?" "Will you just hug me?" "Won't you love me (as a friend)?"

Why do I allow what other people say and do affect how I see myself? It's not every time, it's just when I'm tired, my defenses down, and the like.

I just want to get to the core of someone so quickly, but most other people put up so many barriers. However when you start to try to get through those barriers, you get either repelled or blocked/stonewalled.

Why can't people see me? See who I really am. Why can't they realize I could be a really good friend, all I need is a chance...and one person to believe in me...

Why do I feel such a strong desire to belong sometimes? Why do I sometimes feel as though I want to be a rebel? do my own thing? not care about what everyone else thinks?

I don't question why I don't play stupid mind-games with people. I know why: I don't have the mental/emotional energy to play them. If you upset me, I'm simply going to get upset for a bit, talk with you about it (maybe yell and scream), but once it's settled, it's settled. Done and over with.

I'm leaving the market because I can't seem to pick the right "produce". First they look good and healthy, but when I start peeling away the layers, I always find worms and maggots. It's not worth it any more.

I've been flying on the wings of anticipation and potential love and a beautiful future, but it's just come completely crashing down. The 'thud' is not worth it any more.

To my "almost lover": I hope you find what you seek. You really are a neat person. You just need to get things under control, if you want that happily ever after. Running and hiding is not the answer. Believe me, it's not.

After a very long time searching, I'm 99% positive that true love doesn't exist. There's no such thing, at least for me, as a soul mate. I will just have to make due with friendships. Maybe focusing on those are really what's most important. My mom was very wise to remind me that 'boys' come and go, but friends are forever.

Don't Touch My Heart

Is the Internet a good excuse for 'unavailable' people to 'mess around' with someone else? Or is it just another place people with cheating tendencies to live out their fantasies on other real people?

I understand that many 'attached' men, gay and straight, would have sexual relations of any kind if there were no repercussions. I wouldn't be surprised if that applies to women as well. But I'm not talking about the cheating tendencies of men versus women.

I mean, I am a single woman. I've never been married. My parents are still together after 40 years of marriage, and, to my knowledge, neither one has cheated on the other. I don't believe either one has even flirted with anyone outside their marriage. Who knows, I might be surprised.

I suppose when differing personal ideologies of the Internet, and thus the Metaverse, collide, some real feelings can get a bit stepped on. There are assumptions made by someone who views male/female relationships as purely sexual (ok, that's not just on the Internet, but I think you get where I'm coming from). There are assumptions made by some people who get on the Internet and create a persona that is seperate from who they really are. There are assumptions by people who are the same person online and offline. The list, I'm sure, could go on.

I know I fit into the last type of person: the "realsona" (real persona). I think, feel, act, react pretty much as I would if one were to meet me face-to-face. I might not be quite as shy at first online as in person, but I think that's part of the "gear shifting" in a way (maybe more on that in a seperate post).

It seems that some people make the assumption about me that, because I'm single, never married, that I will flirt with anyone, and it doesn't mean anything. Well, I'm not that kind of person. If I flirt with someone, I've gotten the message that they are available for a real connection, possibly a true, romantic, loving, committed relationship. I'm not sex-starved, I'm love-starved. Sexual gratification I can handle on my own, thank you very much. So I'm not looking for a roll in the hay, so to speak.

So when someone flirts with me, I'm taking it as an indication of true interest in developing a real loving relationship. I do try very hard not to get attached to people too quickly, at least not until I understand enough about them and their situation. There are moments when my wall is very eroded, as in I haven't had quite enough sleep, I've had a drink or two, etc. And that's where I can get hurt.

So maybe the way to combat this infiltation of my heart, is to keep it firmly locked up, and always get online when I'm well-rested, sober, etc. Maybe I shouldn't get online until I've found my True Love/Soul Mate. Or I could just simply create a new persona who is completely cold and asexual. This might be something for me to think about for the next little bit.

I've been chatting in BindPoint, and one of my buddies, Archivus, linked a Hobbit name generator that Alachia posted not too long ago.

For my name, it came up with Primula Sandybanks. The Elven generator: Ireth Nénharma. Pretty cool.

Alas, I have lost the generator that gave me my name, Aleara Jackely. :( Maybe I'll come across it again someday...
